This isn't really true, megastructures while certainly not useless are still very much meant for specific playstyles. It also opens for a real tall playthough which is close to impossible with vanilla. It's just that I came with the impression that the game stalls while Utopia cranks it up one bit further. Not that there are not enough things to deal with though and that's the same for the IA after all. Also it seems those with Utopia tend to have a fastest pace in everything than I do or other do with vanilla. That's where having megastructures would make you reach a whole new stage in (economical) power that you don't have in vanilla. That's when you have expanded as much as you can, conquered the easiest threats and are now dealing with the tougher ones.
